* Over 5,000 deaths have now been confirmed across the two countries * Turkey's death toll rose to at least 3,419, its vice-president Fuat Oktay said. A further 20,534 have been wounded and nearly 6,000 buildings have collapsed * In Syria, the death toll has risen to 1,602 * Turkey's disaster and emergency management authority AFAD said in its latest update that over 24,400 emergency personnel are helping with search and rescue operations * There are concerns that freezing conditions could hamper these efforts * International aid is being sent to the affected region from the UN, EU, Nato and the governments of the US, UK, China, Russia, India, Japan, Iraq, Iran, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Pakistan, among others.
